International Prehistoric Heritage Education Expo: 4th PHE EXPO, 2012
Announcement of the 20th Annual Chongok Prehistoric Festival and
the 4th Archaeological Heritage Education Expo and International Heritage Education Workshop, Korea
It is a great pleasure to announce these special events for archeological heritages in this coming May 4-8, 2012 at the Chongokni site, Korea. All professionals and students interested in public archaeology and archaeological heritage education are welcome to participate. It would be a great experience in senses of archeology and sites as public edutainment and an awareness of preservation of archaeological heritages.
The Yeoncheon Chongokni(Jeongokri) Prehistoric Festival was created by Prof. Bae Kidong in 1993 for public awareness of this well known important prehistoric site. Since that time, a great number of people are visiting the Jeongokri site every May during the festivals and almost million people visited during the festival last time, 2011. Visitors enjoyed public show as well as various programs of archaeological heritage education including the International Expo of Archaeological Heritages Education.
The Archaeological Heritage Education Expo will be held during the festival. International participants are very welcome for shows and education programs of ancient technologies and life ways for public. There will be also a seminar and assembly of the International Society of Archaeological heritage Education. The Expo and seminar will provide participants with valuable ideas and new techniques of heritage education at archaeological sites and museums.
It is very open to anyone who concerns these topics. In particular, we would like to invite some professionals in this field who do heritage education at his or her own sites and museum or any regional institutions. We are very pleased to provide travel grants who will do some heritage education program during festival. Travel grants will include round trip airfare and accommodation in Korea for couple of participants from each country.
If you want to take part in the 20th Yeoncheon Jeongokri Paleolithic Festival and the Expo, please inform to us about your plan of program for the Expo, number of participants, etc. Your application will be reviewed by the organizing committee and you will be notified with detailed information of the events.
